System configuration

The installation included a NIBE F1145 ground source heat pump, NIBE UKV buffer vessel and an ECS300 HP-580 unvented hot-water cylinder heated directly from the heat pump.

Service checks and work

Seven automatic air vents were checked and found dry and operating. No system leaks were present. The underfloor-heating system pressure was running at approximately 2 bar.

The ground-loop fluid protection was checked and brought to approximately -15°C following the addition of brine/antifreeze solution.

The installation included expansion vessels, including a 25-litre vessel where a potential pin-hole issue was identified for monitoring.

Why detailed heat-pump servicing matters

A ground source heat pump relies on more than the refrigeration unit. Ground-loop condition, hydraulic pressures, expansion provision, air removal, buffer volume, hot-water production and the emitter circuit all contribute to system performance.
